Function Setup

The Function Setup menu allows to specify a function. This function can then be assigned to a marker. Additional functions will be provided with upcoming firmware updates.

Auto NBW: Switching automatic noise bandwidth On / Off.

      NBW: Setting the noise bandwidth.

      CBW: Setting the channel bandwidth.

Mode: Select % or x dB

Percent: Enter percentage value if % is selected as mode

x dB: Enter dB value if x dB is selected as mode

      Threshold: Enter threshold

      Ntrials: Enter number of trials

About occupied bandwidth

According to RR No. 1.153 and Recommendation ITU-R SM.328 occupied bandwidth is defined as "...the width of a frequency band such that, below the lower and above the upper frequency limits, the mean powers emitted are each equal to a specified percentage β/2 of the total mean power of a given emission. Unless otherwise specified in an ITU-R Recommendation for the appropriate class of emission, the value of β/2 should be taken as 0.5%."

Following settings are recommended:

      Mode: % (default)

      Percent: 99%

      x dB: -

Threshold: should be set slightly above the noise level

      Ntrials: 400 (ITU recommendation)

Recommendations for setting the spectrum analyzer (e.g. RBW) can be found in R-REC-SM.443-4.
